Charlie, Ella and I were in a group for our preliminary task. Ella and I were fairly new to filming and so it took two attempts for us to reach a final piece. This is due to us not being familiar with continuity editing. We failed to keep everything the same within the scene and we subsequently had to re-film. While filming our final piece we were very conscious of the continuity editing and so it ended up looking really good. To improve I think we should have included a script which contained at least a few lines of dialogue due to it being silent all the way through. However, we did think that this aided the eeriness of the piece as it was originally meant to be crime/police/detective related.
If we were better organised, it would have been beneficial for the piece if we were able to obtain detective style clothing or even police costumes. Ella and I were also completely new to editing on the apple macs. We learnt how to crop shots and edit the sound which proved very effective for the piece. We also learnt how to edit the lighting in the room, which is effective when filming scenes that are particularly light or dark. To conclude, considering the majority of us were not familiar with filming and editing, it went well. Ella and I were also able to attain a wider knowledge of filming and editing which we could use in our practical task.
